Date range and comparison
Pick the dates of a report with a preset, the calendar or typing, and compare them with the previous period or the previous year.
Every report covers a period, meaning a start date and an end date. It also compares that period with another one, to tell you whether your numbers are growing. The period button, at the top right of every report, sets both.
What the button shows
The button shows the current period, with a calendar icon.
- On a large screen, it shows the start and end dates, for example "Sep 1" and "Sep 30, 2026". The start year only appears when it differs from the end year.
- On a small screen, it shows the name of the chosen preset, such as 30 days, or short dates.
- If the period starts at your very first data point, it shows Since the beginning.
- If no period is chosen, it shows Choose a period.
The default period
When you open Fullmetrix, the period covers the last 30 finished days, from 30 days ago until yesterday. It is compared with the same period one year earlier.
The period you choose stays the same when you move from one report to another. It goes back to the default when you reload the page or open Fullmetrix in a new tab.
Pick a period
Click the period button. A window opens with two date fields at the top, the list of presets on the left, two months of calendar in the middle and the comparison choice at the bottom.
You have three ways to pick dates. None of them applies until you click Apply. Cancel closes the window without changing anything.
With a preset
Click a preset in the list on the left. It is highlighted and the calendar moves to the matching period.
| Preset | Period covered |
|---|---|
| Today | The current day, up to now |
| Yesterday | Yesterday |
| 7 days | The last 7 days, up to and including yesterday |
| 14 days | The last 14 days, up to and including yesterday |
| 30 days | The last 30 days, up to and including yesterday |
| 90 days | The last 90 days, up to and including yesterday |
| 12 months | The last 12 months, up to and including yesterday |
| 3 years | The last 3 years, up to and including yesterday |
| This month | From the 1st of the current month until today |
| Last month | The whole previous month, from the 1st to the last day |
| This year | From January 1 until today |
| Last year | The whole previous year, from January 1 to December 31 |
| All | From your very first data point until yesterday |
Rolling presets (7 days, 30 days, 12 months) stop at yesterday. You therefore compare complete days. Today, This month and This year include the current day, which is still incomplete.
Use All and Since the beginning
The All preset only appears once Fullmetrix knows your first data point. It is your oldest imported order, or the connection date of your first integration if that is older. When this preset is applied, the button shows Since the beginning.
Use it to see the total of your history, for example the cumulative revenue of a product since its launch. Comparison makes little sense on such a period.
With the calendar
Click a first day for the start, then a second day for the end. The calendar arrows scroll through months, and year navigation lets you go far back without clicking month by month.
By typing the dates
Click the start or end field and type the date in the dd/mm/yyyy format, for example 01/09/2026 for September 1. Press Enter or click elsewhere to confirm. A badly written date is ignored and the field goes back to its previous value.
If you type a start later than the end, the end is cleared and you must pick it again. If you type an end earlier than the start, the two dates are swapped.
Pick the comparison
At the bottom of the window, the Compare row offers two options.
| Option | Comparison period | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Period | The same number of days, right before your period | To follow a recent trend, for example this week against last week |
| Year | The same dates, one year earlier | To remove seasonality, for example November against November last year |
For example, if you pick the 11th to the 20th of the month with Period, the comparison covers the 10 days before, from the 1st to the 10th. With Year, it covers the 11th to the 20th of the same month, the previous year.
Year is the default. It keeps you from concluding there is a drop in January simply because December is always stronger.
Where the comparison shows up
Once applied, the comparison appears in three places.
- Under each indicator card, a green or red percentage followed by vs previous period or vs previous year. Hover over it to read the compared value, preceded by Previously.
- On trend charts, a lighter dashed line follows the comparison period, aligned day by day.
- In a chart tooltip, the date shown is followed by the compared date.
If a card shows No previous data, Fullmetrix has no data for the comparison period. This often happens with Year when your history is less than a year old.
On mobile
On a phone, the button opens a panel at the bottom of the screen titled Choose a period. Presets show as a grid, followed by the date fields, a one-month calendar, the Compare row, then the Cancel and Apply buttons.
How days are cut
A day starts and ends at midnight in your organization's timezone, set in Settings, General tab. An order placed at ten to midnight Paris time belongs to that day for a Europe/Paris timezone, but to the next day for a timezone further east. An order always belongs to its creation date in your store, even if you pick another date in the Dates tab. The details are in Currencies and timezones and Date settings.
