Goals

Set a revenue, order or customer target for the month, quarter or year, and see every day whether you are ahead or behind.

A goal is a figure to reach over a period, for example €50,000 in revenue this month or 300 new customers this quarter. Every day, Fullmetrix compares what you achieved with what you should have achieved by that date. You know right away whether you are ahead, on schedule or behind.

Open the page from the sidebar, in the Tools group, with the Goals entry.

Before you start

Goals are calculated from your store orders. You need at least one connected and synchronized store. A goal covers all active stores in the organization.

Quarterly and annual goals follow the start of your fiscal year. If your fiscal year does not start on January 1, first set the start date in Date settings.

Create a goal

Open the creation window

Click New goal. If the page is empty, click Create a goal.

Name the goal

In Name, write a clear title, for example "Monthly revenue" or "New customers Q4".

Choose the metric

In Metric, choose what you want to track.

MetricWhat is counted
RevenueRevenue for the period, net of refunds, based on your Report settings
OrdersThe number of orders
New customersCustomers whose first order falls within the period
Average order valueThe average amount of an order over the period
Items soldThe number of items sold
Refund rateThe share of orders whose status is refunded. For this metric, the goal is to stay below the target
Refunded amountThe total amount of orders with a refunded status

Choose the frequency

In Frequency, choose Monthly, Quarterly or Annual. The Start and End fields fill in with the current period, for example the first to the last day of the month for a monthly goal.

Enter the target

In Target, enter the value to reach over one period. For revenue, enter an amount, for example 50000. For the refund rate, enter a percentage, for example 3.

Create

Click Create. The Goal created message confirms it and the card appears on the page.

A goal renews every period

A goal always measures the current period of its frequency. A Monthly goal tracks the current month, then starts again from zero on the 1st of the next month, with the same target. A Quarterly goal tracks the current quarter of your fiscal year, and an Annual goal tracks the current fiscal year.

You do not need to recreate a goal every month. If the target changes from one period to the next, edit the value at the start of the new period.

Read a goal card

Each active goal has its card. At the top, the card shows the name, the metric and the frequency.

Goal card with the percentage achieved, the On track status badge, the progress bar and its vertical marker, and the Actual, Expected and Target values highlighted
ElementWhat it tells you
PercentageThe share of the target already reached
StatusCompleted, On track, At risk or Behind, explained below
Progress barActual progress, in the status color
Vertical marker on the barWhere you should be today. Hover it to read "Expected" and its percentage
ActualThe value achieved since the start of the period
ExpectedThe value you should have reached by today to finish exactly on target
TargetThe value to reach over the whole period
PeriodThe period tracked, shown as the month and year for a monthly goal

How the expected value is calculated

The expected value assumes a steady pace over the whole period. For a monthly revenue goal of €30,000, the expected value is €15,000 halfway through the month.

Average order value and Refund rate are averages, not running totals. For them, the expected value equals the target from day one.

What each status means

StatusColorMeaning
CompletedBlueThe target is reached or exceeded
On trackGreenYou are at or above the expected value
At riskOrangeYou are slightly below the expected value, by less than 15%
BehindRedYou are more than 15% below the expected value

For Refund rate, the logic is reversed. The goal is Completed as long as the rate stays below the target.

See a goal in detail

Click a card, or open the card menu with the three dots and choose Details. A window opens with the goal name.

Goal detail window with the Metric, Frequency, Period and Status information, the Target, Actual, Expected and Projected values, the Daily progress chart and the Daily data table

At the top you find the Metric, Frequency, Period and Status. Four values follow.

  • Target, the value to reach.
  • Actual, the value achieved.
  • Expected, the value planned for today.
  • Projected, the value you will reach at the end of the period if the current pace holds.

The Daily progress chart plots the running Actual day by day, the Expected line and a horizontal line at the Target. If the actual line runs above the expected line, you are ahead. Annotations can show on it with the flag button in the header. See Annotations.

The Daily data table lists each day of the period, most recent first, with Actual (cumulated) and Expected. Use it to spot the day the gap opened.

Edit, archive or delete a goal

Open the card menu with the three dots.

Edit opens the Edit goal window. You can change the Name and the Target value. Metric and Frequency are greyed out and cannot be changed. To change them, create a new goal.

To archive a goal, open Edit, turn off the Active switch, then Save. The goal leaves the page without being erased. To find it again, click Show archived at the top of the page. The button then reads Active only to go back to the normal view. To bring an archived goal back, reopen Edit and turn Active on again.

Delete opens the Delete goal window. Confirm with Delete. Deletion is permanent.
