Understand the dashboard
Read every card, chart and ranking on your home page, and know what to do when a number moves.
The Dashboard is the first entry in the sidebar and the page that opens when you arrive in Fullmetrix. It sums up your store sales for the chosen period on one screen. It helps you spot that a number has moved. To understand why it moved, you then open the matching detailed report.
This page walks through the screen from top to bottom.
The page header
The top bar holds the controls that decide what you see. From left to right after the title, you find the following.
| Element | What it does | Detailed page |
|---|---|---|
| Filters | Limits the numbers to part of your orders, such as one country or one payment method, or loads a saved segment | Filters and segments |
| All sources | Picks the stores included. This button only appears if your organization has several stores | Store selector |
| Period button | Picks the dates analyzed and the comparison period | Date range and comparison |
| TV mode | Switches the page to full screen for a permanent display | Charts and TV mode |
| Show trends | Adds a trend line to every chart | Charts and TV mode |
| Show annotations | Shows your annotations on the charts. Only visible once you have created some | Charts and TV mode |
| Change theme | Switches between light and dark display | Charts and TV mode |
Icon-only buttons show their name when you hover over them.
By default, the dashboard shows the last 30 finished days (from 30 days ago until yesterday) and compares them with the same period one year earlier.
Always note the scope of a number
Two people looking at the same dashboard can see different totals if they did not pick the same stores, filters or period. When you share a number, state these three things.
The four indicator cards
The first row shows four cards. Each one holds the value for the period, its change against the comparison period and a small curve of the last 14 days of the period.
| Card | What it measures |
|---|---|
| Revenue | The total amount of orders in the period. Depending on your settings, refunds, taxes, shipping and fees are deducted |
| Orders | The number of orders placed during the period |
| Average order value | Revenue divided by the number of orders |
| New customers | The number of customers who placed their very first order during the period. A customer is recognized by their email address |
The orders counted are those that match your calculation rules. Excluded statuses, ignored customers and deductions are set in Settings, Reports tab, as explained in Report settings. An order always belongs to its creation date in your store, as explained in Date settings.
Read the change percentage
Under the value, a percentage shows the gap with the comparison period, followed by vs previous period or vs previous year depending on your choice. It is green when the value goes up and red when it goes down.
Hover over the percentage to see the comparison value, for example Previously followed by the amount. If Fullmetrix has no data for the comparison period, the card shows No previous data. This happens when your history starts after the beginning of that period.
A rise is not always good news, and a drop not always bad. A higher average order value with fewer orders can hide a loss of small buyers. Always read the cards together.
See how the cards relate
Revenue is the number of orders multiplied by the average order value. When it moves, check which of the two other cards moved.
- Orders go up and average order value stays flat. You have more buyers, often thanks to traffic or a campaign.
- Average order value goes up and orders stay flat. Your customers buy more expensive items or more items, often thanks to an offer or a price change.
- New customers drop while orders hold. Your business relies more on loyal customers.
The trend charts
Under the cards, three charts show the day-by-day trend.
The large Revenue chart spans the full width. Below it, Orders and New customers sit side by side.
In each chart, the colored area is the chosen period. The lighter dashed line is the comparison period, aligned day by day. Hover over a point to read the date, the compared date and both values. The comparison series is labeled (previous).
Use the charts to find the day a change happened. Then ask yourself what changed that day, such as a campaign launch, a stockout, a promotion or a technical issue on the store. Annotations let you record these events right on the charts.
The Top products and Top categories rankings
At the bottom of the page, two lists rank your products and categories by the revenue they generated during the period.
Top products shows the rank, product image, name, reference (SKU) and revenue on each row. Top categories shows the rank, category name and revenue. Each list shows up to 30 rows and scrolls inside its card.
Click a row to open the product or category detail page, with its day-by-day sales, customers and orders. Detail pages have their own page.
If the period has no sales, the lists show No products or No categories.
What you see when there are no numbers yet
