AI assistant
Ask questions about your store in plain language and get figures, charts and shareable reports, from Fullmetrix or from Slack.
The AI assistant answers questions about your business by reading your Fullmetrix data. You write the way you would talk to a colleague, for example "How many orders last week, compared with the same week last year?". The assistant reads your orders, products, customers and connected services, then answers with the figure, plus a chart or a table when it helps.
You find it in the sidebar under AI assistant. The Beta badge means the feature is still evolving. We improve it regularly based on your feedback.
What you need before you start
The assistant needs two things.
A connected store
The assistant reads the data Fullmetrix synchronizes. Without a connected store, it has nothing to analyze. If you have not done it yet, follow the quickstart.
A connected AI provider
The assistant runs on an artificial intelligence model that you choose and that its provider bills. Open Settings, then the Integrations tab. In the AI assistant category, the AI provider card offers three methods, ChatGPT account, OpenAI key and OpenRouter key. The full walkthrough is in AI providers.
If you see the message asking to connect your ChatGPT account
This message appears when no AI provider is connected to the organization. Click Connect ChatGPT below the message to open the integrations page, then connect one of the three methods.
Other data sources improve the answers without being required. If Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, ChatGPT Ads, Google Analytics 4, Search Console, Crisp or Omnisend are connected, the assistant can read them too. It can, for example, compare your ad spend with your sales, read your support conversations, or measure what your Omnisend campaigns really brought in. With Omnisend it can also make a change once you confirm it, see Omnisend. See Integrations.
Ask your first question
Open the assistant
In the sidebar, click AI assistant. The page greets you by your first name and asks "What are we looking at today?".
Type your question
Click in the Ask anything about your data… box and type your question. To get going right away, click one of the two suggestions, Where does my revenue stand? or What are my best products?.
Send it
Press Enter or click the send button. To add a line break without sending, use Shift and Enter.
Follow the analysis
While the assistant works, a sentence tells you what it is doing, for example "Querying your data". When the analysis needs several reads, an Analysis plan lists the steps and ticks them off as it goes. Each step shows the reads it made and how many rows they returned.
To interrupt an analysis, click Stop. Whatever was already read stays on screen under Analysis stopped.
You can switch tabs during the analysis. When it finishes, the tab title shows Analysis complete. If you allowed browser notifications for Fullmetrix, you also get a notification saying your Fullmetrix assistant has finished working.
Read an answer
An answer always starts with the figure you asked for. Depending on the question, it can contain the following elements.
| Element | What you see |
|---|---|
| Text | One or more paragraphs, with the key figures in bold |
| Chart | A line or bar chart, with a total card for each series. When one period is compared with another, the comparison is dotted and the gap is shown as a percentage |
| Table | A ranking of products, customers, orders or campaigns, sometimes with a filter to switch between two groups |
| Follow-ups | Three or four suggested next questions under the answer, such as "Compare with last year". Click one to ask it |
| Report | An Open the report card when the analysis deserves a full page. See the reports section below |
Above the answer, the details of each read stay available, with the sources used and the number of results.
Sometimes the assistant needs a detail before it continues, for example which store to analyze when you have several. It then shows an approval card with one to three multiple-choice questions. Pick your answers and click Confirm. If none of the choices fits, write your own answer in Something else…. Skip passes the question.
Check important figures
The assistant can make mistakes, as the note below the message box says. Before a decision that matters, compare the figure with the matching report, for example Revenue for revenue.
Example questions
The assistant understands questions written naturally, in English or in another language. It answers in the language of your latest message.
To follow day-to-day activity
- What was my revenue yesterday, compared with the same day last week?
- How many orders this month, and what average order value?
- Give me the key figures for the last seven days.
To understand what sells
- What are my ten best-selling products this month?
- Which category grew the most over the last 30 days?
- Which products are often bought together?
To know your customers
- Who are my twenty best customers this year?
- What share of my revenue comes from returning customers?
- How many new customers this quarter, compared with last quarter?
For advertising, if an ad platform is connected
- What is my Meta return on ad spend this month?
- Which Google Ads campaigns spent the most without generating sales?
- Show me the best performing TikTok ads this week.
To get a complete document
- Give me a full review of last month that I can show my business partner.
- Prepare an audit of my acquisition over the last six months.
The more precise the question, the better the answer. Give the period ("in September", "over the last 90 days"), the store if you have several, and the exact metric (revenue, number of orders, average order value).
Point to a source, attach an image, dictate
The message box offers several tools around the text field.
Add attachments and sources opens a menu. It offers Add images, to attach images from your computer (10 MB per image), and the list of services connected to your organization, marked Connected. Picking a service, for example Meta Ads, tells the assistant to rely on it for this question. You can also type @ in the field to open the same menu, then pick an entry with the arrow keys and Enter.
You can drag an image straight onto the message box, or paste it from the clipboard. This is handy to have the assistant comment on a screenshot of your store or of a table.
The microphone button starts dictation. Speak, your words appear in the field, then read them over before sending. Dictation depends on your browser and may not be available everywhere.
The model picker, Choose model, lists the models ticked on the AI provider card. To change this list or the default model, open Settings, Integrations, then the Models button on the card. If no provider is connected, the picker shows No model connected.
Find your conversations
Every exchange is saved. Conversations are personal. Other members of the organization do not see yours.
At the top of the page, the Conversations button opens your history. Conversations are grouped under Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days and Older. The Search a conversation field filters the list by title. Click a conversation to reopen it and ask a follow-up question. The assistant keeps the context of the exchange.
To delete a conversation, hover its row, click the delete icon, then confirm. The New button starts a blank conversation.
The page address holds the open conversation. If you refresh the page, you land on it again. If an analysis was still running, it resumes on screen.
Assistant reports
For an audit, a review or an analysis that covers several topics, the assistant writes a report. A report is a complete page with sections, interactive charts and tables, in light and dark themes. In the conversation, it shows up as a card with an Open the report button.
The report opens in a panel. At the top you find three actions.
- Open in a tab shows the report full page, at its own address.
- Share opens the sharing settings described below.
- Close the report takes you back to the conversation.
To change a report, keep the conversation going, for example "Add a section about refunds". The assistant edits the existing report instead of creating a new one, and its version number goes up.
Reports belong to the organization. As soon as at least one exists, the Reports button appears at the top of the page. It opens All reports, with a Search a report field.
Share a report by link
Open sharing
Open the report, then click Share. The Share the report window opens.
Choose general access
Under General access, there are two options.
- Your team only is the default. Only members of your organization, signed in to Fullmetrix, can open the report.
- Anyone with the link makes the report readable without signing in, by anyone who receives the address.
Copy the link
Click Copy link. Link copied confirms it. Paste it into an email or a chat.
The report address never changes. To stop public access, go back to Share and choose Your team only. From that moment the link stops working for outside people, and your colleagues keep using it as before.
A public link shows your figures
Anyone who has the link sees the full report, without a Fullmetrix account. Share it only with people you trust, and switch back to Your team only once sharing is no longer needed.
Ask the assistant from Slack
If Slack is connected, the people you allow can ask their questions directly in Slack.
Connect Slack
Open Settings, Integrations, then connect the Slack card in the Notifications category. The details are in Slack.
Allow people
On the Slack card, open Settings, then Allow people. Search for and tick the members of your Slack workspace who can query the assistant, then save. The Allowed people row on the card sums up your choice.
Ask a question
In Slack, send a direct message to the Fullmetrix app, or mention @Fullmetrix in a channel where it has been invited, followed by your question.
While the assistant works, an eyes reaction appears on your message. It goes away when the answer arrives. If you ask in a thread, the assistant answers in that thread and keeps the context for the next questions.
In Slack, answers are shorter and text only, with no chart, table or approval card. For a detailed analysis or a report, use the assistant in Fullmetrix.
Direct message or channel
In a direct message, the answer stays private. In a channel, everyone in the channel can read it. Pick the place based on the figures you ask for.
Someone who is not allowed and writes to the assistant gets a message only they can see. It tells them to ask an administrator to add them in the Slack settings. An empty message, with only the mention, gets an invitation to ask a question.
What the assistant can and cannot do
The assistant reads. It never writes. It does not change your orders, products, settings or ad campaigns. It cannot create a segment, start an export or message your customers for you. It can explain how to do these things in Fullmetrix.
It only reads data from the organization you have open. To query another organization, switch with the selector at the top of the sidebar, then reopen the assistant.
It can search the web when outside context helps read a figure, for example a seasonal trend in your industry. It then names the source.
Its figures follow the same rules as your reports, including the excluded order statuses and the net sales deductions set in Report settings. If a figure surprises you, check those settings first.
