Shopping agent
Understand what the shopping agent does on your store, what to connect before turning it on and how to read its figures.
The shopping agent is a chat window that appears on your online store. A visitor asks it a question about a product, for example "What's the difference between the sizes?". The agent answers from your catalog and shows clickable product cards. It plays the part of a sales assistant in a physical store who helps people choose.
You find it in the sidebar, in the Marketing group, under Shopping agent. The entry only appears once a store is connected to your organization.
What the agent can do
The agent answers pre-purchase questions. It knows the product the visitor is looking at, its variations (sizes, formats, colors), their prices and their stock. It also reads the text of the page the visitor has open, such as the tabs, features and FAQ of the product page. When the visitor asks for an alternative or a similar product, it searches the rest of your catalog.
Each answer is a few sentences long. It can include up to six product cards with a photo, a price and a View product button. It ends with two suggested questions the visitor can send in one click.
The agent replies in the visitor's language. A visitor who writes in English gets an answer in English, even if your store is in French.
What the agent refuses to do
We set safeguards you cannot turn off, because a wrong price or a broken promise costs more than a missed sale.
- It never makes up a price. It only copies prices from your catalog. If an amount in its answer is not in your catalog, we replace it with a reference to the price on the product page before it is displayed.
- It never calculates a total and never grants a discount. When a visitor asks for a total, it says the cart will calculate it.
- It never makes up stock, delivery times, promo codes or future availability.
- It does not handle after-sales. Order tracking, returns and shipping are outside its scope.
- It only talks about your store. An unrelated request, such as a recipe or homework, gets a polite refusal and two suggestions that bring the visitor back to your products.
When information is genuinely missing, it says so and suggests contacting your customer service.
What you need before turning it on
The agent needs three things.
A connected store
The agent reads your products, prices and stock from the data we sync from your store. Without a store, the page shows Connect your store with a Connect my store button that opens Settings, then Integrations. To get started, read Quickstart.
An AI provider
Answers are written by the AI provider you connect in Settings, then Integrations. Without one, the page shows Connect your AI provider with a Connect an AI button. Visitor conversations go through that account. To connect one, read AI providers.
Site tracking installed
The agent window loads with the Fullmetrix tracking script. It only appears on pages where tracking is active. To check the installation, read Site tracking.
Once these three conditions are met, the agent stays hidden until you turn it on. The Overview and Context pages then show The assistant isn't active yet with a Go to configuration button. The Configuration page stays available so you can prepare the look before going live.
If you see Settings unavailable, the configuration could not be loaded. Reload the page. If the message stays, write to us from Contact support.
Go live in three steps
Add context
Open Context and describe what isn't written anywhere on your product pages, then add your rules. Read Context.
Set the look
Open Configuration and choose the color, font, language and welcome texts. Read Configuration.
Turn it on and save
Still in Configuration, turn on Show the assistant on my store, then click Save. Open a product page on your store to check that the window appears.
The agent appears on every store in the organization where tracking is installed, and it searches the catalog of all those stores.
Read the overview
The Overview page measures how the agent is used over the last 30 days. There is no date picker on this page. Each card compares the total for the last 30 days with the 30 days before, with a percentage change badge followed by "vs previous period". A small curve shows the day-by-day trend.
| Metric | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Conversations | Visitors who opened the assistant and asked at least one question. |
| Messages exchanged | Every message, from both the visitor and the assistant. |
| Products shown | Product cards the assistant displayed in its answers. |
| Products clicked | Cards the visitor clicked to view the product. |
Below the cards, one chart per metric details the 30 days. Days follow your organization's time zone.
To judge how useful the agent is, compare Products clicked with Products shown. A low click rate can mean the cards are too far from the question, which a rule or more precise context often fixes.
Until a visitor has asked a question, the page shows No conversations yet. Figures appear with the first conversation.
